A Trip for Caregivers to Relax
On April 13 and 14, TFRD held its first "Caregiver Spiritual Growth Camp" at the Rare Disease Welfare Center (RDWC). Everyone packed their backpacks and gathered at RDWC for a two-day, one-night healing trip.
In the morning, a gardening class showed the participants how to build a "small garden" of their own. In the afternoon, we watched a documentary about the life of a family with Niemann-Pick disease, in which we could see the process of caring for a family with a rare disease, including the loss of family members, which triggered us to think about the issue of "facing the loss of life". The next activity was to experience pour over coffee. Everyone made a cup of coffee for themselves and enjoyed a moment of relaxation.
During the sonic massage class on the second day, participants gave each other gentle massages using balls of yarn. They also shared their favorite plants with one another. In the cozy ambiance, everyone relaxed and fell asleep, fully releasing their stress and achieving a restful sleep.
The final class was meant to assist participants in confronting their emotions, recognizing their true selves, and ultimately accepting their feelings. Only through acceptance can we find peace and cease suppressing and suffering. Following the class, everyone cheered and encouraged one another, marking a perfect ending to the two-day, one-night caregiver camp.
