Horticultural Stress Relief Activity

On a hot summer day, the Rare Disease Welfare Center hosted an experience activity of stress relief through horticultural therapy that was full of vitality and healing, with the attendance of 30 members led by Chang Chiao-Huei, a horticultural therapist.

The members first picked Patchouli planted at the Center to make Patchouli mosquito repellent, and tasted the anti-inflammatory juice that combines Patchouli and oranges. Ms. Chang then introduced Basil, which has detoxifying and stomach-healing properties. She also took the members to the greenhouse to pick different kinds of herbs. Afterwards, she taught everyone how to use fresh cream and gathered herbs to create their own unique vanilla cream. Spreading the cream on toast and enjoying it together with Basil tea was a relaxing experience both for your body and mind.

The caregivers and patients threw themselves into the embrace of nature and experienced the vibrant life of plants through their five senses. Finally, the lecturer shared the culture of green grass. In this era of dense high-rise buildings, there still exists the traditional culture of herbal streets and medicinal labels. This traditional knowledge and wisdom still has a significant impact on people's health and stress relief, which made the members more cherish the traditional culture of herbal medicine.
