"Teachers Study Manual for Rare Diseases" Teachers Are Welcome to Request

After ten years’ experience in advocating, TFRD found that rare disease education not only depended on a single group and short-term session of advocacy, but also required systematic promotion through the education system.

Therefore, TFRD along with Hao-Tou-Nao Culture and Education Co., Ltd. collaborated to compile the first set of “Teachers Study Manual for Rare Diseases" in domestic. Planning a set of easy-to-understand teaching materials of rare diseases for elementary and middle school students. In the case of Pompe disease’s drugs development by Yuan-Chong Chen, the academician of Academia Sinica as a study case in the materials. We hope students could understand the particularities of rare disease patients and the difficulties of drug research and development.

In order to guide students to learn about rare diseases, “Teachers Study Manual for Rare Diseases" included three units, which were “heredity know-how”, “gene know-how, the secrets and truths of genetic diseases” and “cell know-how”, collocated with “YoungNewton”.
