Three-Day, Two-Night Trip to Eastern Taiwan

The three-day, two-night trip to Eastern Taiwan, co-hosted by the Dr. Lin Si-Hong  X5 Charity Foundation and the Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD), took place from August 23 to 25 with great enthusiasm. A total of 60 participants — patients and their families representing 18 rare diseases — joined the outing.

The itinerary included visits to the Hualien Cultural and Creative Park, clam digging at Lichuan Fish Farm, cultural immersion at the Peninsula Tribe, and outdoor adventures such as canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding at Liyu Lake. Other memorable activities featured local specialty meals, a lively campfire night, shrimp catching under the stars, and a joyful barbecue gathering.

On the second day, volunteers from the X5 Charity Foundation accompanied the group throughout, giving families the chance to relax and enjoy a rare day of water fun at the scenic Liyu Lake. The trip concluded with a visit to the Taekwondo training station at Jia Li Elementary School, where the principal personally greeted the guests. Young Taekwondo athletes and professional coaches guided participants through basic techniques, allowing everyone to experience the sport’s spirit of perseverance and self-challenge.

Dr. Lin Si-Hong expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying, “We hope this trip offers patients and their families a much-needed break, helping them find courage and strength through mutual support and companionship.”

TFRD extended its sincere appreciation to the X5 Charity Foundation for five years of continuous partnership — a bond that has brought lasting encouragement and warmth to families living with rare diseases.
