Charity Blood Drive Reaches Historic High!

On May 30th, a historic charity blood drive took place near the Vie Show Cinemas in Xinyi District. Despite the scorching sun, crowds of eager donors lined up, ultimately bringing in a record-breaking 628 bags of blood—the highest count in the event's history.

The key to this overwhelming success lies in an innovative strategy by Lin Ming-hui, CEO of the KEDP Charitable Trust. He brilliantly connected three distinct concepts: “blood donation”, “movie entertainment”, and “charitable giving”. Donors were rewarded with movie tickets for their life-saving gifts, while corporate sponsors pledged to donate NT$2,000 for every bag of blood collected, greatly amplifying the community's incentive to give. Supported by the Cheng Kao-hui Charity Foundation, these 628 bags of blood were transformed into over NT$1.25 million in donations, providing a vital boost to our mission of supporting rare disease families.

Adding a vibrant burst of energy to the event was the boys' basketball team from Hualien Hai-Sing High School. Traveling all the way from their distant community, these Indigenous youth volunteered to hit the streets, enthusiastically inviting passersby to join the drive and warming the hearts of everyone they met.

The rare disease families—the very beneficiaries of these efforts—were also an active part of this milestone. Arriving early in the morning from all corners of the region, one patient’s mother shared, "With so many people stepping up to help us, how could we possibly stay behind?" Their presence served as the most powerful testament to the cause, helping the public truly see how a single, simple act of kindness can bring profound and practical relief to those living with rare diseases.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to every single participant who helped write this beautiful chapter of love and hope.
