Treasure Boxes People – Teens’ Communication Group
People are social animals. Interpersonal relationship is a lesson that everyone must learn. How to perfectly cope with that is an important part whether you are studying or working. In TFRD’s long-term service, we have seen many patients likely to make an inappropriate interaction due to the needs of interpersonal interaction and friends. Especially the patients who are in their adolescent stage, because of the influence of hormones, it is more easily to have problems about interpersonal interaction. To solve the problems,(In view of this) this year, for the first time, TFRD cooperated with psychologist Chia-Yu Wu who works at Huai-Jen Center for Human Becoming, to try a group mode for an 8-weeks rare disease teenager’s communication group. There are 8 kinds of rare diseases and 12 members joined this time.
Owing to the different age and unfamiliarity with each other, members had little interaction at the beginning of the course. Except for a few members, others are almost silent and had few words. Everyone gradually opened their minds after adapted to the environment and be familiar with other members. And with the professional leadership by teacher Wu, the students began to have greater willingness to express themselves. From the experience of suffering from illness and even their personal opinions on things, they were willing to share.
The mode of this activity is a new try among all TFRD’s events. It is no longer just playing games or taking seriously courses in classroom. It is a self-recognition and discussion from the bottom of the heart, so that teenagers can first know themselves and understand their own situation, and then discover their problems. Finally, they can learn the appropriate inter personal interactions from the experience of others.
