TFRD Gets the 20th Medical Dedication Award

TFRD Awarded with the 20th Medical Dedication Award

In a highly competitive environment, TFRD stood out and had been awarded with the 20th Medical Dedication Award for its 10 years efforts fighting for rare disease patients’ rights and providing integrated services to them. Medical Dedication Award is awarded by Health, Welfare & Environment Foundation. The aim of this award is to honor those who dedicate to serve in health care, mostly medical professionals and relevant administration staff.

We would like to share the honor with all who have been helped us along the way. Because of you, love is never rare.

In 1999, Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders has been established by two rare disease patients; parents, Miss Serena C.Wu and Dr. Min-Chieh Tseng. The next year, Rare Disease and Orphan Drug Act was legislated and thus made Taiwan the 5th country that enacted rare disease law in the world. Therefore, the rights of those with rare disease were secured under systemic protection.

Also, TFRD acts as a platform to enhance the communication between the government and the private sectors, and to integrate and share resources among medical and social services. TFRD’s hard works have made great contributions and major developments in developing Taiwan rare disease policies and services, which also made Taiwan an index country in confronting rare diseases. With all who care about rare disorders, together, we endeavor to guard patients’ rights and to develop various services so that building a well-shaped welfare homeland for people with rare diseases is no longer a dream.

With the award in hand, we will continue to carry out our mission and commitment to Taiwan’s rare disease patients. We also give our appreciation to the medical personnel in Taiwan because we wouldn’t have come this far if it weren’t for your help and devotion. Thank you!
