The 2nd Straits Forum Exchange Communicate Record
The Themes of the 2nd Straits Forum included Ways of Charity: Innovation, Volunteer Experience of Charity Organizations, and Case Analysis of Public Welfare Innovation
Vice President of China Charity Alliance Xu Yongguang said that the charity organizations in 2012 in China was at the total amount of 499 thousand, including foundations, social groups and private non-enterprise units. President of Taiwan Teacher Chang Foundation, Chang Decong, describes Teacher Chang’s development and innovation of counseling work. Fo Guang Shan and Tzu Chi actively invest in social welfare and highlighting that religion can not only purify people's hearts, but also change society through public welfare. Moreover, Mr. Cheng from Taishin Charity Foundation shared ‘share your love’ marketing strategy. Professor Li Shuzhen from Yang Ming University ICF and Assistive Technology Research Center brought practical experience of assistive technology.
Founder of our foundation, Serena, was also invited to present a 20-minute sharing. She pointed out that owing to the wide difference and the difficulty of treatment of rare diseases. We should jump out of the old frame and think about how to change from helping patients by old economical subsidy to enhancing personal life quality and strengthen family relationship maintenance. As a result, she established rare chorus, rare mind painting classes, letting more patients express their emotions by singing and drawing. She also established writing classes, letting patients express their emotion during sickness by writing.
At this charity forum, though TFRD attended as Taiwan’s NPO experience sharing, being one of Taiwan’s NPOs, we were still proud of Taiwan’s flourishing civil society power. We saw different group’s ways of service promoting. These can be our learning model in the future.
