Congratulations on TFRD's Rare Disease Propaganda Being Awarded the 2014 Excellent Health Reading by the Government
Since 2002, by soliciting recommendations from the public, the Health Promotion Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare has provided the public with reading lists containing works on understanding health concept for people to maintain their health easily. This year, the activity has entered its 6th year with 100 award-winning works among 724 applications.
The campus propaganda film Rare Disorders Befriend You, published by Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD), won the Multimedia Promotion Award in the category of Women & Children Health. The judges believed that the structure of the film is well-organized, and the picture is clear. With the patients and their parents facing the camera to show the realities of the rare diseases, the audiences were moved by their courage and confidence. It was expected the public would have more knowledge and acceptance about rare diseases.
Besides, co-authored by 9 trainees of the Writing and Editing Camp organized by TFRD, the book Gathering of Nine One-in-Ten-Thousand was awarded Worth Recommending in the category of Community Health. The judges commented that the journey of pursuing health by the patients and their families after stepping out of the shadows is just like a holy war which can be felt by the readers.
Written by a rare disease sufferer Zheng Ling, the book Go Travelling Even with a Wheelchair was also awarded Worth Recommending in the category of Chronic Disease Prevention. The award ceremony was held at NTUH International Convention Center on September 23. The works recommended this year will also be sent to participate in activities held on the Internet. Through interaction on the Internet, it is expected that Taiwanese people will develop the habit of reading books on health, and subtly heighten their health awareness.
