The Warmest Support from Gui Lun-Mei
In 2012, high-profile Taiwan actress Gui Lun-Mei won the Golden Horse Awards and Asia Pacific Film Festival for her exquisite performance. Her excellent performance and refinement have always been loved by audiences.
In 2014, TFRD invited Gui Lun-Mei to be the spokesman. During the summer, due to the "Ice Bucket Challenge" abroad arousing everyone’s attention to rare diseases. Gui took the lead in responding when the event was launched. Moreover, she has been concerned about related rare diseases issues in the past two years, and donated to TFRD every month.
Although Gui has a full work schedule, she squeezed in a whole day advertisement shooting free of charge without hesitate. TFRD specially invited four young patients Tong-Tong (Noonan Syndrome), Xiao-Ping (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), Han-Han (Williams Syndrome) and Xiao-Ying (Hereditary Epidermolysis Bullosa) to participate in the photo shooting together. Gui mentioned that she had only heard about rare diseases from news before. This was her first time to contact with rare disease patients in person and felt full of vitality and warmth from them.
This charity event also announced in advance that TFRD will launch the "Malay Tapir Charity T-shirt Donation Event". It was the first time for Cherng, the popular online illustrator to create the T-shirt without charged for rare disease. The design idea was based on the Malayan tapir, which is also a rare animal, symbolizes the "non-glow firefly" for rare diseases patients. The unique T-shirt is officially launched in 2015.
