Prof. Tseng Wins the Excellent Teacher Award

Congratulations to TFRD Co-founder Tseng Min-chieh on Winning the National Excellent Teacher Award of the Ministry of Education (MOE)

Professor Tseng Min-chieh, Co-founder of TFRD, was awarded National Excellent Teacher Award (NETA) by the Ministry of Education. He received the award from President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Tseng-chang and Minister Pan Wen-chung at the award ceremony on September 28.

Prof. Tseng, currently teaching in National Taipei University (NTPU) Department of Social Work, was recommended by NTPU into the selection process. After the interview and final vote, he finally earned the NETA, the highest honor in education community. During his tenure as dean of College of Social Science, NTPU, he proposed to the Ministry of Education for about NT$ 16 million to fund the University FOresight Education (UFO) and the University Social Responsibility (USR) projects. He led the teachers and students to fulfil Social Practice, part of USR to help vulnerable populations such as the elderly, the disabled, aboriginals, children, veterans, women, etc., with a view to cementing the close relationship between NTPU and the local communities.

Prof. Tseng has been involved in his advocacy of medical rights for patients with rare diseases since 1998. For 20 years, he has been sparing no effort to participate in rare disease legislation, policy development, organization management, and project promotion. Prof. Zeng has best exemplified what “an old saying that actions speak louder than words” means by walking out of the classroom to confirm his academic theory.
