The Southern Volunteer Team Wins Award Again

Volunteer service team of TFRD southern office was rewarded the High Distinction Award of hygienic health care volunteer service in Kaohsiung in 2018. It was their fifth time awarded this honor since 2012.

The Southern Office of TFRD has established a volunteer service team since 2007. So far, the number of volunteers has accumulated up to 416 people. In 2018, there were 204 volunteers about 940 hours of service, and they have assisted more than 1600 people. The team was firstly given the High Distinction Award of hygienic health care volunteer service in Kaohsiung in 2012, and constantly been awarded in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018. This is a great recognition and encouragement for the team and the staffs of the South Office.

Volunteer services in the South Office include the activity volunteers, the administrative volunteers, performance workshop volunteers, and photography volunteers. Over the past year, volunteers experienced different meetings and activities. They always working hard and running around, but still kept a warm smile and cared about the patients and their family members. Thanks to this group of passionate and adorable volunteers, the activities can be full of vitality and successfully completed.

The volunteer team is just like a big family, with 20 members who have served for more than 5 years, and three of them even have served for more than 8 years. The most senior volunteer is Wei-Ling. She started with small amount of donation and then she make contact with TFRD. Later, she supported several activities, In 2010, she serviced regularly in the Southern Office. And asked why Wei-Ling continued to be a volunteer? She answered: “I have considered TFRD as my second family. As long as I have enough energy, I am willing to do it even only one invoice to check or one person to advocate, I still feel happy about it.”

In the team, senior volunteers bring in new volunteers. Everyone not only encourages and learns from each other during services but also cares about each other as close as family members. Having those volunteers is the honor of TFRD.
