2025 Patient Family Trip: Touring Central Taiwan
From September 21 to 22, TFRD organized a trip for 76 households—totaling 81 patients and family members, with 227 participants in all—to visit multiple attractions in central Taiwan. Through engaging hands-on crafts, cultural tours, and culinary feasts, the event provided relief from daily caregiving pressures while fostering exchange and mutual support among families facing similar challenges.
The first stop was Yaxiangbao, a former factory in Miaoli for exploring Sanyi's woodcarving culture, where participants painted colorful wooden bear trays with focused creativity. Lunch followed at the renowned West Lake Resort, where families visited attractions like the Garden Chapel and Dinosaur World before enjoying a spectacular European acrobatic show together.
The group stayed overnight at Boutech Wuri Village Hotel, which offers thoughtful barrier-free facilities and a clean, warm environment, providing a peaceful retreat for families affected by rare diseases.
The next day, refreshed and energized, everyone headed to Chengmei Cultural Park. Led by a knowledgeable tour guide, they strolled through century-old traditional houses and elegant gardens, immersing themselves in the exquisite craftsmanship and rich cultural atmosphere of Taiwanese architecture.
Finally, the group arrived at the historically rich Changhua Xihu Sugar Refinery. TFRD specially chartered 20 train cars, ensuring every family could ride the vintage narrow-gauge sugar train, known as “Wufen Che”, and admire the verdant rural scenery along the route. Additionally, everyone savored the region's iconic ice pops, ending the two-day journey on a sweet note.
TFRD will continue organizing diverse activities to support patients and their families in facing life's challenges, creating more precious and beautiful memories together.
