Partnering with Taoyuan Hospital

The Rare Disease Welfare Center was established in October 2022 with the " Administrative Service Office for Patients in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli ". The Taoyuan Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare likewise set up a "Rare Disease Care Team" at the end of 2022 to provide patients with subsidy applications, nutritional supplement applications, medical information, and other related counseling and case management.

On September 9, 2023, a signing ceremony took place between the Executive Director of TFRD, Kuan-Ju Chen, and Dr. Shu-Shou Cheng, the Vice President of Taoyuan Hospital and Convener of the Rare Disease Care Group, representing both parties. Executive Director Chen mentioned that there are approximately 1,231 patients with rare diseases in the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli region, emphasizing that the collaboration with Taoyuan Hospital will enhance the solidity of medical services provided by the Rare Disease Welfare Center. Dr. Cheng highlighted that numerous rare disease patients at the hospital have benefited from various respite services and experiential activities facilitated through their connection with TFRD.

Owing to geographic proximity, the two organizations, deeply concerned that local assistance in terms of medical and welfare resources is needed for rare disease services, have joined forces to care for rare disease families living in the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli region.
