Groups Searching for Leisurely Living

In addition to the deterioration of physical functioning, patients with rare diseases may also experience changes in their psychological state. For the first time, TFRD combined a physical fitness course with a psychological group counseling course and organized six sessions of "Journey of Leisurely Living" at the Rare Disease Welfare Center from May 24th to June 28th, with a total of 11 families, 44 patients and 7 companions attending.

To motivate patients with rare diseases, who may be unable to participate in rigorous physical activities and have limited options, to establish a regular exercise with their caregivers, therapist Ye Qian-Wen devised an unique program. This program aims to tackle the common challenges confronted by patients and their caregivers, fostering a positive perspective on health, promoting physical well-being, and sustaining a high quality of life.

Regarding the psychological group counseling course, social worker Shen Fang-Jun was invited to facilitate a self-exploration and personal growth group, helping individuals reevaluate their life roles and objectives. Our aspiration is that, through this program, everyone can attain emotional stability and find the inner fortitude to grow stronger and more resolute, thus enabling them to move forward and embark on their individual life journeys with newfound warmth and determination.
