Fubon Taipei Marathon Donates NT$1.1 Million

Fubon Life Insurance Co., a long-term supporter of rare disease patients, has continued to fund the Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD) through the Fubon Taipei Marathon by donating more than NT$1 million this year.

The annual event, which took place on Dec. 19, raised NT$1,137,780, NT$324,000 of which came from the charity race, while NT$813,780 of which from marathon T-shirt charity sales.

All the donations will cover rare disease patients’ living and medical care expenses. The TFRD expressed greatest appreciation to all participants and workers of the marathon.

Despite cold weather warning issued by the Central Weather Bureau, runners turned out in force in the early morning in Taiwan’s biggest event of this kind, with the number of them up 20 percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, 550 people donated the money they used to buy marathon T-shirts on Fubon’s momo.com shopping website to the TFRD.

The TFRD extended its appreciation to all donors, Fubon Life Insurance in particular, via sports events.
