"Life Without Disabilities" Receives Achievement

TFRD initiated a project “Life Without Disabilities” with The League for Persons with Disabilities (LPD) and OurCityLove since 2012. After three years, 108 people with disabilities were cultivated to become “special agents” who had evaluated and recorded 1000 restaurants. A press conference took place at Taipei Artist Village on January 23th 2015, showing how these agents cooperated with the restaurants and created a better accessible environment together.

The press conference started with 12 videos “12 stars of accessible restaurants in Taipei” which were separately starring by 12 well improved restaurants. The special agent, Shu-Yu, who had Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) and used wheelchair since childhood, attended the conference. Despite her words are blurred, which were caused by facial muscles paralysis, she became a special agent. In the company with her mother, they have evaluated lots of restaurants actively.

The conference was a complete success. TFRD no longer fought alone. Those restaurants created a more accessible environment for disabilities by providing sweet services, listening to the suggestions from special agents and making improvements. The project gave opportunities of social participation for people with disabilities, and the public get to pay more attention on accessible environment which not only was the need for the disabled, but the life style that every nation around the world could share with.
