SOGO Taichung Joint Exhibition

TFRD has long been focusing on raising public awareness of rare diseases (RD). This time, TFRD cooperated with SOGO Taichung again to host "Art of the Heart - Illuminated Vitality by Firefly", a joint creative exhibition for patients with RD. TFRD sincerely thanks SOGO Taichung for providing the Fountain Plaza on the 14th floor as the exhibition area from Feb. 17 to Mar. 7.

The 20 pieces of paintings in the exhibition were created by patients with 16 kinds of RD. Each work is a unique and moving story, in which the creator engages in a dialogue with his/her heart through the process of painting. A patient with Williams syndrome said that his painting, which shows the strong bond between a parent and a child, was coached by his late mother. Another work is about Christmas in Finland, painted by a patient with Marfan syndrome. The painter had traveled to Finland to study and the host family were very kind to him. He learned that Christmas is a time of family unity in Finland, so he drew his memories to express his gratitude to them.

Rare Disease Day is celebrated every year on the last day of February. On February 28, a sharing session was held at the first-floor plaza of SOGO Taichung to introduce the public to RD. Many parents brought their children to the event to participate in Breaking through the Barricade game. TFRD's Central Heavenly Melody Choir dedicated seven songs on stage to repay the public for their long-standing support. Various unique goods could be found at the booths set up by RD family members, including pottery, handmade cloth bags, drawing cards, and handmade baking, each of which came from their crafty hands.

Once again, we would like to thank SOGO Taichung for offering such a perfect place for the public to have a closer look at RD. We are not alone with you on the way to fight against RD.
