Patient Services】Day Care Center and Small-scaled Workshop Visiting

After rare disease patients graduated, their families all worry about their future or their lacking of ability to survive in the society. Besides, it is likely that deterioration occurred after the patients go back home. Actually, many rare disease families consider Day Care Center and Small-Scaled Workshop to be a suitable placement which can retain the patients’ vitality, social ability, and health. Meanwhile, the patients can own support from their families.

Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD) invited several patients who are going to graduate and their parents to visit Forgetful Grass Foundation in Taichung on Apr. 12. They understood the process of the placement, the scale of the center, activities, and the details of careness in Taichung currently via the introduction of social workers. By the above-mentioned event, the placement will be more specific and assured for the families.

There is a small-scaled workshop, a bakery, which is in Taichung (Abundant Blessings Community Association of Taiwan). The workshop recruits students who can be independent in their daily life and offered them life training and practices for four hours each. Human resource in the workshop is so average that every student can gain attentive care and training. If the workshop is out of red, the students will get bonus, which makes them independent and confident.

This visiting prepared the parents who are going to face the options, hoping that they will find proper placements to assist the patients to be mature and independent. The families also can get a chance to have a break.
