Daddy Chef, The Fight is on!
Last year, TFRD held the first event “Daddy Chef” was very succeed. Fathers of rare disease patients competed their cooking skill. The same as a father, the executive chef of Ambassador hotel, Chien-Lung, Lin was touched by the event. This year, in order to express the deepest respect to fathers’ regretless pay, Chef Lin called his colleagues to support this event. As soon as fathers knew they could wear chef’s uniform to cook, they asked mothers to prepare for live broadcast to their friends. At first, we were worried that fathers can’t cook, but what we didn’t expect is that fathers won’t give up easily, the thoughts of winning defeated everything. Since this competition, some of them became bosom friends, and even have a family gathering.
This year’s event held on August 4th, and 10 fathers came from all around Taiwan. One of them, Mr. Huang, make effort to learn how to cook, for his blind daughter, and share the heavy burden for his wife. His daughters also loved what he cooked. Therefore, Mr. Huang made a comeback this year, aiming at the championship and learn more secret recipe dishes for his wife and daughters.
Chef Lin demonstrated two dishes himself in the event: Stir-fried Radish Cake with XO sauce and Mustard Codfish. Other dishes cooked by fathers are also appetizing. After an intense discussion, there is a tie game by four judges, and finally, team south won in the sudden death round “Best Daddy Chef Award”. After the competition, everyone enjoyed the delicious meals together. Thanks to everyone’s great efforts, to make rare diseases family spend a warm and unforgettable Father’s Day.
