Assistive Devices Donations by Rotary Club

Sending love to help, rotating healthcare tools – donations of rehabilitation and assistive devices by Rotary Club of Taichung Northwest

Almost all rare disease patients have tospend their life with the disease after falling ill. With the progressing of thedisease and the deterioration of bodies, patients would gradually lose theirbody functions and are unable to take care of themselves. However, the offeringof simple rehabilitation guidance and the use of rehabilitation devices couldhelp patents improve their life quality and slow down the deterioration whilereduce the pressures on family members. Under appropriate cares, patients wouldbe encouraged to join social activities.

To improve patients’ body functions andprevent deterioration, the foundation launched the Home Rehabilitation programin 2007. By visiting patients’ families and offering professional guidance, theprogram aims to allow patients who are unable to leave homes to learn homerehabilitation skills and information on home assistive devices. So far, thefoundation receives about 336 applications for home rehabilitation every year.The foundation would like to thank Rotary Club of Taichung Northwest’s concernson the requirements of patient families and its donation of medical devices in2015 and 2017, which were provided to patients through the foundation. In 2018,Rotary Club of Taichung Northwest again sponsored a batch of homerehabilitation and assistive devices to help patients’ rehabilitation andimprove their living quality.

Rotary Club of Taichung Northwest hasdonated six types of healthcare and assistive devices: arm and leg exercisemachines, four-wheel walking aid, wheeled walking aids, portable lightweight ramp,low frequency electric therapy apparatus, and toilet frames. Each of them isfrequently used by home rehabilitation professionals and is able to helppatients overcome the inconvenience of outdoor activities. The goodwill ofRotary Club has assisted disabled to get used to social life.
