Patients from the Eastern Region meet together

In collaboration with the X5 CHARITY FOUNDATION, TFRD organized a three-day, two-night retreat to Taitung on August 23, offering 69 patients and their families, along with 16 dedicated volunteers, a meaningful and enriching experience. The journey began with warm greetings and cheerful chats among participants. After a shared meal, the group split into two teams for cycling excursions—one at Huoshui Lake and the other at Seaside Park. Later, they visited the Children’s Bookhouse, where they explored diverse educational philosophies, making for an inspiring and thought-provoking experience.

On the second day, participants attended a hands-on aiyu jelly (Ficus pumila) workshop led by the owner of Chih Aiyu in Guanshan. While preparing the jelly together, patients and families exchanged caregiving experiences, and social workers introduced TFRD’s support services. The day continued with a visit to a tribal theater, where participants enjoyed cultural performances and engaged in traditional activities such as weaving and archery. The evening concluded with a lively and heartwarming bonfire celebration, strengthening bonds among attendees. The final day featured a visit to Beinan Cultural Park, marking a perfect conclusion to the memorable journey.

A heartfelt thank you to the X5 CHARITY FOUNDATION for its unwavering support, as well as to Mr. Zhou Fu’an (Guanshan Youth Corps) and Mr. Huang Shijie (Beinan Youth Corps) for guiding the 16 volunteers. We also extend our deep appreciation to the Children’s Bookhouse Foundation and the Bunun Cultural and Educational Foundation. Your generosity and dedication made this unforgettable experience possible for families affected by rare diseases.
