Two-Day Tour for New Members

Rare diseases are diverse and rare, with many new members of the Firefly Family joining TFRD every year. Starting from 2021, TFRD has organized "Two-Day Tour for New Members" to provide more opportunities for these new members to exchange ideas and learn more about our service resources.

From June 4 to 5, 173 patients and their family members from 51 families and 34 types of diseases from northern, central, and southern Taiwan made a trip to Taichung and Miaoli. First stop was the “Dazhenfeng Umbrella Cultural and Creative Theme Pavilion” in Taichung, where they experienced umbrella painting. Then, they settled into the “Grand Royal Hotel”, where they enjoyed the various facilities of the hotel. To cap off the day, an evening party was organized, featuring entertaining competitions that were enjoyed by both the children and adults.

On the second day, they visited “Si Fang Ranch”, where they were introduced by the farm staff, enjoyed the freshest milk ice cream and made delicious pizzas. For families with rare diseases, traveling is not an easy thing to do. During the trip, they kept each other company, exchanged stories about the hard work of caregiving, and welcomed the newcomers to the family.

Testimonials from patients who participated in this program: "It isn't easy for me to embark on this journey, but TFRD's well-planned program design, combined with the kindness and enthusiasm of the staff, truly made me feel be welcome." "I not only received top-notch care throughout the process but also had the opportunity to connect with other families. This has been the most exceptional respite service. Additionally, I've come to realize that life is brimming with possibilities."
