Gaucher's Disease Patient Group Established

On November 20, patients with Gaucher's disease held a social event and invited the director of the China Medical University Hospital, Wang Zhong-xing, to share medical information. Next, the psychotherapist raised the issues of self-identity and awareness for the audience to learn to examine whether they are uncomfortable and lack confidence because they only care about what others think. The psychotherapist suggested that the first step to building confidence is to go back to how we see ourselves and find out our self-worth. In the afternoon, patients were invited to share their employment experiences. Some of the patients mentioned that during the job hunting process, they would take the initiative to explain the special characteristics of their bodies and communicate with employers. Although they had experienced frustration, they usually ended up finding a job they were interested in.

Near the end of the event, the Central Office's Director, Chen Hong-hui, assisted the patients to exchange ideas and successfully established the "Gaucher's Disease Patient Group", and selected Mr. Chu as the first president. It is expected that the group will promote closer relationship among the patients.
