The 19th Rare Disease Scholarship Award Ceremony

In 2003, TFRD established the Rare Disease Scholarship to encourage students with rare diseases (RD) to advance in their studies, talents and services despite the challenges of the disease. As of 2020, a total of 5,068 scholarships have been awarded to students with RD, with a total of NT$32,673,000.

The 19th Rare Disease Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at the Howard Plaza Taipei in Taipei. From the list of recipients, many of them are students pursuing master's or doctoral degrees at Taiwan's top 3 universities. A number of patients in the list passed the Senior Civil Service Examination and were qualified for appointment. The patients showed their diverse talents in learning and art creation despite their illness. This year, nine awards were presented to 352 patients, including 98 types of diseases, with a total of NT$2,385,000 awarded as scholarships.
