Nantou Barrier-Free Mini Tour
For wheelchair users, traveling is often far from easy. Since 2020, the Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD) has been organizing accessible travel experiences, arranging large rehabilitation buses to ensure that participants with mobility challenges can enjoy safe and worry-free trips. From August 3 to 4, the 2025 Accessible Mini-Trip brought together 23 wheelchair users and their family members—a total of 66 participants—for an unforgettable journey in Nantou.
The first stop was JOJOZOO PARK in Caotun, where participants enjoyed close-up encounters with animals and freely explored the park's fully accessible paths. That evening, the group checked into Classic Hotel Fantastic Places near Sun Moon Lake and shared a hearty local dinner.
Although rain prevented them from taking an accessible lake cruise the next day, the group cheerfully visited Jijibanana, where they made banana cakes by hand and learned about the many banana varieties grown on-site. The final stop was Babbuza Dreamfactory, where participants ascended the eight-story "Tree of Life" via a circular walkway, taking in the inspiring atmosphere along the way.
Through carefully planned accessible routes and activities designed specifically for wheelchair users, TFRD hopes families can travel without barriers—enjoying each moment, finding strength in mutual support, and continuing life's journey together with renewed hope.
