North District Volunteer Recruitment Training
The "North District Rare Disease Volunteer Recruitment Training" held on March 17 attracted over 30 new volunteers from diverse backgrounds and various age groups.
After getting to know each other, Ms. Hung, Deputy Executive Director of TFRD, explained to the trainees about rare diseases and related resources, and introduced the original purpose of TFRD, its services, and their significance. After that, two veteran volunteers were invited to share their impressive service experiences.
In the afternoon, a physiotherapist explained common illnesses and their symptoms, and introduced appropriate assistance methods. The therapist also demonstrated proper techniques in person for transferring wheelchair-bound patients. Following this, Ms. Yi-Hsuan Lin, a social worker and an outstanding rare disease patient, delivered a speech sharing her personal growth and mindset changes after her diagnosis.
In a final exercise, volunteers engaged in simulations to experience the challenges faced by individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments. They also participated in a comprehensive review of the day's activities through a question-and-answer session. The formal volunteer service is set to launch shortly. TFRD anticipates that all volunteers will have a rewarding and enjoyable experience. We warmly invite our friends and community members to join us in this meaningful endeavor.
