Painting Exhibition "Travelling Around the World"

Painting Exhibition "Travelling Around the World" Takes You to See the Beauty of the World!

The Lunar New Year is approaching. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, most people choose to spend the New Year in Taiwan. Thanks to everyone's adherence to the government’s guidelines, Taiwan could achieve admirable results in combating Covid-19, which allows everyone to go out and return home safely. This year, TFRD was invited by SOFIVA GENOMICS (SG) for an imagination trip under the theme of “Travelling Around the World.” With the patients’ hands and imaginations, they drew a world full of dreams and hopes.

Upon entering the SG building, the painting “Cow under the Cherry Tree” to the left is produced by Ms. Wang, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). She has had difficulty in mobility since her childhood. After high school, she learned to create art on her own at home. It was only in recent years that she joined TFRD’s Mind Painting Class and rekindled her passion for art. Yan-Suan, who has Glycogen Storage Disease, draws a rising balloon with the slogan “Taiwan Can Help” to make Taiwan visible to the world. The picture “Crescent Bridge” drawn by a boy surnamed Song, a Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) sufferer, leads us to a bridge, where colorful lights and shadows flow on it, making it fascinating and romantic. The beautiful “White Sand Bay” takes everyone to catch the wind and ride the waves, “Peace Island” in Keelung to watch the sunset, and “Heart of Qianzhen” in Kaohsiung Harbor to discover the splendor of humanities.

The exhibition also featured “Light and Shadow Chaser,” a collective work created by the learners of TFRD’s painting class. By observing the changes and overlaps of the light and shadow, the painters developed their shapes. We are grateful to SG for organizing this exhibition based on its goal to promote the artwork of patients with rare diseases (RD) and use art as a medium to pass on the vitality of RD patients to more people.
