Health Check and Respite Activity for Rare Disease

【Patients’ Family Services】Health Check and Respite Activity for Rare Disease Family

Health Check and Respite Activity for Rare Disease Family has been held by TFRD since 2012, and it has taken family members by storm. TFRD hosted two activities this year. One was held in northern Taiwan on March 24th at H & B health center and Taipei Nan-Gang sport center. The other took place in central Taiwan on April 21th at China Medical University Hospital and Taichung North District sport center.

In addition to basic examination, including urine and blood examination, liver, biliary, renal and lung function, as well as blood fat, this year the examination of chest X-ray, abdominal X-ray, colorectal cancer, and abdominal ultrasound were all included. Family members who always lived a busy life were able to take advantage at their physical condition.

The afternoon activities were arranged the most popular “Bubble Bump Football”. “Bubble Bump Football”, a popular activity these days, was arranged in the afternoon. Family members were divided into two teams: team A and B. After they were fully equipped, they started struggling with each other and scored by putting shooting the goal. Although the game lasted for only five minutes, they got soaked with sweat. They didn’t even have the strength to get up again after being knocked down. Later, the coach taught them to play bow and arrow shooting, they were fully engaged in these exciting games and sweated bullets.

“I haven’t suffered from such tiredness! But I had so much fun!”
“These games seem simple and easy. How can they make people sweat so much?”
“Awesome.”
“Thank you for always thinking about us.”

A day full of activities came to an end in a joyful atmosphere. The most gratifying moment for TFRD was when many parents shared their feelings and exchanged contact information after the activity. TFRD expects every family to associate more friends and offer each other support. After they recharge their batteries, they can continue to root for their children, as always.
