Equine-assisted Therapy: Healing the Soul
Most rare disorders have a slow progression and lack proactive treatment options. Due to the impact on multiple bodily systems, patients often require long-term rehabilitation. On February 3, the Southern Branch Office organized an equestrian experience activity, with 31 patients and their families participating, and a total of five different types of disorders.
Coach Lin from Qiaotou Equestrian Center introduced the concept of equestrian therapy utilizes the rhythmic movements of horses during riding to train core muscles and maintain balance. Additionally, controlling the reins requires the coordination of the shoulder, lower back, and leg muscles. Therefore, this can promote muscle strength and enhance coordination. Moreover, horses are sagacious animals, riders can enhance focus and boosts self-esteem through interaction with horses.
After visiting the stables, participants had close interactions with the horses. During the riding experience, many children fearlessly choose to ride the larger horses and exclaimed how fun it was! The children all jumped and shouted with joy, as they fed the horses. The heartwarming interaction with the horses provided an unforgettable experience for everyone and brought healing to their souls.
